Solar power for timber construction – Sustainable energy at Brenzikofer Holzbau AG
Project Description
In December 2022, a high-performance photovoltaic system with a total capacity of 267.5 kWp was installed on the roof of Brenzikofer Holzbau AG in Wichtrach. The solar installation covers an area of 1,317 m² and is mounted on a trapezoidal sheet metal roof using the proven K2 mounting system. Its south- and north-facing orientation with a 13° tilt ensures optimal energy yield.
Usage and Sustainability
A large portion of the solar power generated – approximately 258 to 291 MWh per year – is used on-site for the company’s own energy needs. The electricity produced supplies various production processes, including the manufacturing of custom-made kitchens and specialized fittings, as well as the construction of doors, façade cladding, and traditional roof structures.
By harnessing its own solar energy, Brenzikofer Holzbau greatly improves production efficiency while making a strong, hands-on contribution to climate protection.
Conclusion
The photovoltaic system at Brenzikofer Holzbau is a successful example of combining traditional timber construction craftsmanship with modern, sustainable energy technology. Thanks to careful planning by XEEO and professional installation on the existing roof, the system reliably supplies electricity for resource-efficient production – a flagship project within the Swiss SME landscape.
